
Stop Waiting for Your Oven to Warm Up
Nothing kills a production rhythm like standing around waiting for an oven to hit temperature. It’s frustrating. You’ve got parts to move, but you’re stuck staring at a digital readout that isn’t climbing fast enough. That’s where auxiliary heating tubes come in. Think of them as a “turbo boost” for your thermal process. We use short-wave infrared halogen lamps to bridge that gap and get you moving again.
Why this actually works
Most ovens rely on resistive coils. They heat the air, the air heats the oven, and eventually, the oven heats your part. It’s a slow process. These tubes do things differently. They shoot infrared radiation directly into the workpiece. Because we pack a lot of wattage into a slim quartz tube, the response is almost instant. You aren’t waiting for the whole cavity to get hot—you’re hitting the part itself. It’s fast. Really fast.
The nuts and bolts
We use high-purity quartz glass because, frankly, the heat from a halogen cycle would melt almost anything else. Getting them into your setup is easy. Most of our tubes use standard R7s or SK15 connectors, so they usually just slide right into your existing industrial housings. Depending on how much control you want, you can hook them up to a PID controller for pinpoint accuracy or just a simple timer if you only need a quick burst of heat. If your material is stubborn and needs the heat to soak in deeper, we’ve got coated quartz options that shift the wavelength to help with that.
A few things to keep in mind
Now, these aren’t “plug it in and forget it” tools. They put out a massive amount of heat in a very small space. If you’re running 2000W or more, you have to think about your venting. If the air can’t move, you’re going to fry your wiring or trip a thermal cutout, which puts you right back where you started: waiting. The real magic happens when you use these as a supplement. You can keep your main oven at a lower base temperature and use the lamps to flash-heat the surface of the part. It saves a ton of energy and, more importantly, it cuts your cycle time down significantly.
