
Getting Your SACMI Blowers to Heat Up—Fast
If you’re running SACMI rotary blow molding machines, you know they move fast. Like, really fast. When your cycle times are that tight, you can’t afford to wait around for your heating lamps to catch up. If those lamps lag, your preforms deform, your wall thickness goes all over the place, and you’re suddenly staring at a pile of scrap. That’s why we built our replacement lamps to snap to temperature the second you flip the switch. The secret is in the punch. We push the wattage and dial in the voltage to get the heat flux exactly where it needs to be. By cranking the voltage, the filament hits its peak temperature in milliseconds. No more “cold spots” while the machine is spinning. You get a concentrated blast of short-wave IR radiation that sinks deep into the PET material almost instantly. Built for the grind Rapid cycling is brutal on hardware. To stop the glass from cracking under the stress, we use high-purity quartz. We also fill the tubes with halogen gas. This keeps the filament from evaporating too quickly, so the lamp actually lasts, even when you’re pushing it to the limit. And we didn’t overcomplicate the installation. We use the standard R7s or Sk15 connectors. You just pull the dead tube out and plug the new one in. No rewiring, no headaches. Just a simple swap. A quick tip from the shop floor Here’s the thing: when you run these lamps at full tilt to shave seconds off your cycle, the housing and reflectors take a beating. If your reflectors get pitted or dirty, the heat bounces right back into the lamp. That’s a recipe for a burnt-out filament. Keep them polished. It sounds like a chore, but a quick cleaning schedule is the only way to keep your efficiency up and your replacement costs down.
