
Getting Your 2500W IR Radiators to Actually Play Nice With Your Gear
If you’ve ever dealt with PET blow molding, you know the nightmare of preforms warping because the heat wasn’t hitting just right. It’s frustrating. That’s why we built our 2500W IR radiators to be simple drop-in replacements—whether you’re running Sidel gear or pretty much any other blowing system on the market.
Let’s talk about that 2500W punch
The 2500W number isn’t just for show. It’s about getting that heat to actually penetrate the PET walls fast. To make this happen without frying the filament, we tweaked the voltage-to-length ratio. If your machine is wired for 400V, the lamp handles the load across the quartz envelope to keep things steady. You get a consistent heat soak across the preform, which is exactly what you want. But a quick heads-up:keep an eye on your cooling. When you pack this much power into a small space, things get hot. Fast. If your forced-air cooling isn’t up to spec or your airflow is blocked, you’re going to trip your sensors.
The nitty-gritty: Quartz and Plugs
We went with heavy-wall quartz glass. Why? Because rapid cycling is brutal on equipment, and this stuff can handle the thermal shock. We also filled the filaments with halogen to keep the color temperature steady and make the lamps last longer. As for the connectors, we didn’t want to make your life harder. We stuck with the standard R7s and Sk15 bases. No custom wiring. No annoying adapters. You just pull the old lamp out, pop this one in, and you’re good to go. It fits about 95% of the machines you’ll find on a typical factory floor.
Real-world talk
The best part? You aren’t locked into one brand anymore. Nobody wants to wait weeks for an OEM part to ship while a machine sits idle. With these, you can just swap them in and get back to work. We’ve tested these across a ton of different brands to make sure the IR beam hits the preform exactly where it should. One last tip:Check your contact points for oxidation before you flip the switch. At 2500W, a loose or dirty connection will arc. And if that happens, it’ll melt your socket right off the wall. Not a great way to start the shift.
