Getting Your Sidel SBO or Matrix lamps Right (Without the Headache)
If you’ve ever worked with blow molding lines, you know the drill. If your heat distribution is off, your PET preforms start stressing or crystallizing, and suddenly you’re staring at a pile of scrap. It’s a pain. That’s why we make our IR lamps to fit the whole Sidel lineup—everything from those old-school SBO systems to the newer Matrix series. The fit has to be perfect. Sidel machines are picky about lamp lengths and electrical loads to keep those cycle speeds where they need to be. We build our tubes to the exact millimeter. Why? Because nobody wants to spend their shift fighting with mounting brackets during a changeover. If a lamp is off by even 2mm, you’re risking a crack in the quartz glass or a loose electrical connection. It’s just not worth the risk. The nitty-gritty on heat and power We use high-wattage shortwave IR tech to get your PET up to temperature fast. These are built for high-voltage setups, which helps keep the current draw low across those long oven banks. We stick with standard R7s and SK15 connectors. They’re reliable. They handle the constant expanding and contracting of the lamp ends without shaking loose. One heads-up, though: these tubes put out some serious heat. It means your ramp-up time is fast, but it also puts a lot of pressure on your ventilation.**Keep your blowers clean.**If they’re clogged, the ambient heat builds up and your lamps won’t last nearly as long. Just swap them and go We’re all about the “drop-in” replacement. You shouldn’t have to rewire your oven or mess around with the reflectors just to switch lamps in a Matrix or SBO setup. We match the original OEM focal points so the energy hits the center of the preform right where it should.
