Ever deal with bottles that just won’t come out right? Maybe the walls are too thin in some spots, or the whole shape looks a bit wonky. Usually, it comes down to one thing: your heat isn’t hitting the preform evenly. It happens. Lamps lose their punch over time, or the heat field just isn’t lining up with the shape of your bottle. It’s frustrating. That’s why we built these replacement lamps. They fit right into your KHS setup, but we’ve tightened up the thermal tolerances. Basically, we made sure the heat is steady from one end of the tube to the other.
The nitty-gritty on heat
We use high-purity quartz glass because, let’s be honest, these things take a beating. If the glass warps under all that heat, you’re in trouble. By tweaking the tungsten filament and the halogen gas pressure, we’ve managed to keep the wattage consistent. No more “hot spots” in the middle of the tube. One quick tip: if you’re running high voltage, your reflectors are under a lot of stress.**Keep them clean.**If they’re covered in grime, that radiant heat never actually reaches the PET.
Swapping them out
We kept the connectors simple—standard R7s or Sk15. You can swap them out fast and get back to work. We also spent a lot of time on the end-cap seals. Most cheap tubes fail because the gas leaks out, and then they just burn out. Ours don’t. Plus, the quartz is crystal clear, so the infrared heat sinks into the material exactly when it needs to.
Real talk from the shop floor
Here’s the thing: don’t just throw in a higher wattage lamp because you want to speed things up. If you push too much power through a tube without the right airflow, you’re going to cook your oven internals. It’s not worth the risk. Once you put the new lamps in, take a second to check your cooling fans and calibrate your sensors. When the heat is actually balanced, you’ll notice it immediately. Fewer scrap bottles. Consistent weights. It all comes down to matching the lamp’s output to the weight of your preform. Simple as that.
