
Getting Your Thermal Profiles Right in Sidel Matrix Systems
Here is the problem with swapping out OEM lamps in a Sidel Matrix blow molder: if your temperature curve shifts even a little, you’re in trouble. When the infrared output isn’t exactly where it needs to be, your preforms heat up unevenly. That’s how you end up with weird wall thickness or that annoying pearlescence in your PET bottles. We built our replacement lamps to mirror the factory specs specifically so you don’t have to deal with that headache.
Why the “Math” Matters
We don’t just look at the wattage and call it a day. That’s a rookie mistake. We focus on the spectral output. To get a heat curve that actually tracks with the original, the lamp has to play nice with the Sidel power supply’s voltage and current. If the resistance is off, the heat density per centimeter changes. We’ve dialed in our filaments to make sure the heat flux spreads evenly across the whole tube. No “hot spots.” No burnt preforms. Just steady, reliable heat.
Plugging Them In
These are true drop-in replacements. We kept the same footprint and connectors, so you can just wire them up. No hacking away at the oven housing or making “creative” adjustments. We use a high-thermal-shock quartz envelope and a specific halogen fill. It keeps the light output strong and helps the filaments last longer. But a quick heads-up: high-density IR lamps put out a ton of ambient heat. If your oven vents are clogged or your cooling fans are on their last legs, these lamps will run hotter than they should. That can fry your surrounding wiring over time, so keep an eye on your airflow.
